Our Story
Built Different. How a side project became a brotherhood brand. It started with a conversation — the kind that sticks. Someone I trusted gave it to me straight: “Go see the boys at Maloney’s. They’ll sort you out.” So I booked in, got the cut, and mid-trim, my barber asks what I use in my hair. I told him. He laughed. Not to be rude — just honest. He handed me a new product to try. It worked. Felt solid. Smelled right. But when I flipped it over and saw the price tag — $40 — I paused. Don’t get it twisted — it was good. But as a solo dad at the time, that kind of spend on a styling tub? Not realistic. That moment lit a fire. My background's in chemistry, so I did what I knew — broke it down. Ingredient by ingredient. What worked, what didn’t. Then I rebuilt it — cleaner, sharper, simpler. A formula that actually backed its claims. No fluff. I handed out the first few jars to mates. Their reactions said it all: "This slaps." "Bro, where did you get this?" "Can I buy one?" One of them was my boss. End of the day, I find an envelope on my desk. Just cash — and a note: “Go for it.” That was it. The greenlight. I called up our designer and said, “I think I’ve got something here.” He asked if I had a name. I said: “Killer Groom.” Ten minutes later, the first logo landed. From there, it grew fast. Not because we had money or hype — but because it worked. Because it felt real. Because it came from a place most of us have been: wanting better without paying triple for the label. Killer Groom is for those who back themselves. For the self-taught. The clean-cut rebels. The guys who walk into the room and don’t need to say a word. You know who you are.

Kiwi owned and run from Auckland, tested on real heads by working barbers, and priced so you never pay triple for the label.
